19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Moutet.
It is the player's first title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
The opponent saved 4 early-game chances in a close third set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
